Press Release: April 21, 2010
Victoria Shamrocks Add Paul Dawson

The Victoria Shamrocks of the Western Lacrosse Association are very pleased to announce they have acquired the 2010 playing rights to Paul Dawson from the defending Mann Cup champion Brampton Excelsiors.

At 24 years of age, Paul is the younger brother of former Shamrock Dan Dawson and the two were teammates with the Excelsiors where they won back-to-back Mann Cup championships in 2008 and 2009. They are also currently teammates with the Boston Blazers of the National Lacrosse League.

At 6.5 and 225 pounds, Paul has established himself as a defensive force and is widely regarded as one of the toughest players in the game today. In three seasons with the Excelsiors he has registered 11 goals and 27 assists for 38 points along with 279 penalty minutes in 97 regular season and playoff games. With the Blazers so far this year he as 1 goal and 4 assists for 5 points along with 72 penalty minutes in 15 games.

This is a great day for the Shamrocks organization, said Shamrocks general manager Chris Welch. Paul is an elite player who is just coming into his prime and like his brother, he's a quality person as well. He's a perfect fit with the program we're putting in place. Our fans are going to love him; he's big, strong, aggressive and very tough. The name on the back of his jersey speaks for itself but for him it's all about the crest on the front. I can't wait to see him in the green and white.

Dawson will join the Shamrocks as soon as the Blazers season comes to an end.
